I’ve been following Maria Emmerich’s healthy tips over at Maria Mind Body Health for awhile now and this book caught my attention.
It’s called, The Ketogenic Cookbook.
I’ll be honest in that I own so many cookbooks that I first went to the local library to see if I could rent it. I wanted to be able to check it out before I committed to purchasing it. When I got there there was a 6+ week wait just to have this book in your hands for 7 days.
So I thought, dangggg… it must be good if there are that many people waiting to “check out” this cook book!
I went ahead and purchased it on amazon here.
When it arrived in the mail I was surprised to find how big it was!
This is one hefty and gorgeous cookbook!
The first thing that caught my attention was the BEAUTIFUL photos. Being a professional photographer for the past 10 years I sometimes get annoyed (not going to lie) when I purchase a cookbook that clearly didn’t take the time to learn or invest in professional photos for their cookbook.
I can assure you that’s not what happened to this book though. Every page was gorgeous recipe photo after photo. It’s especially important in my opinion when it comes to a healthy cookbook. Gorgeous photos will motivate you even more to try the recipes because it makes them look even more appealing 🙂
The first thing I did was go through and posted note every page where I wanted to try a recipe…ummmm let’s just say I will have recipes to try from this book for a long time, they all look SO good! I’m SO glad I purchased this because renting it would not have been long enough as there are enough recipes in here to keep me interested for a LONG time!
So far I’ve tried the Bone Broth, Steak w/ Brown Butter Bearnaise, and the Beefy Asian Noodles. They have all been absolutely delicious!
Highlights from the Cookbook Include:
- Great information on why a Ketogenic diet is healthy for you
- The history of the Ketogenic Diet
- A list of ingredients/foods you can eat on this diet
- 150+ ketogenic recipes
- 7-day keto meal plan
…but here’s my favorite part of the cookbook. In the back of the book they have a color photo thumbnail of each recipe, w/ the title, and the page you can find it. They’re also organized by meal: appetizer, breakfast, treats, etc.
All in all I’m very happy I purchased this book. If you’re interested in the ketogenic diet, learning more about it, being able to eat delicious food while getting healthy & losing weight – then I would highly recommend you check out this book!
