I go dairy free from time to time when I’m trying to lose weight. I find dairy, and nuts, but mostly dairy can stall my weight loss.
I’m personally sensitive to dairy so this for me is the case. However it’s not the case for all low carbers. If you’re unsure try keeping a food log and doing a week with dairy and a week without. Then compare your notes on weight loss, mood, appetite, etc.
If you’re curious why dairy has this effect on weight loss Diet Doctor (http://www.dietdoctor.com/) has some insights to share with us, “Dairy products all contain a varying amount of lactose (the milk sugar), which slows down weight loss. What’s more, part of the protein in milk generates an insulin response, which can have the same effect. Consequently, cutting back on dairy products may accelerate weight loss.”
As I talked about in my last blog post I’m up 15-20 pounds from my lowest adult weight so right now I’m trying to drop weight. Therefor I’m limiting my dairy and at times omitting it all together.
Now that fall is where though I’ve been craving pumpkin everything including: coffees, ice creams (no specific season is needed for my love for ice cream), breads, and of course milk shakes!
So with that I decided to make a dairy free, low carb, sugar free, (heck even) keto, pumpkin pie milkshake!
Being that it is dairy free I was surprised by how creamy it tastes! This is my new favorite and I hope you love it to! Let me know in the comments below what you think! 🙂
